The HEAD Stage 3 Red is a non-pressurized starter tennis ball designed for children aged 5 to 8 years old who are learning the fundamentals of the game. It is the first step in the International Tennis Federation's (ITF) "Play and Stay" developmental program.

Key Performance Features

• 75% Slower: It travels 75% slower through the air than a standard adult tennis ball. This gives young players significantly more time to react, prepare their swing, and track the ball. 

• Lower & Softer Bounce: It is larger than a standard ball and bounces much lower (hitting around chest height for a child). This prevents the ball from jumping over their heads and encourages proper hitting technique. 

• Two-Tone Felt: The felt is split into bright red and yellow halves. This helps kids visually track the spin of the ball and clearly see if it is moving forward or backward.

Who It Is For

• Children (Ages 5–8): Specifically scaled for toddlers and young kids playing on a smaller 36-foot (11-meter) court with smaller rackets (19 to 23 inches).

• Complete Adult Beginners: Occasionally used by coaches to introduce adult beginners to basic footwork and contact points without the stress of a fast-moving ball.
